However during the Christmas break on January 16, a week before he was due to head back to Townsville from his parents home in Caloundra, Mr Greedy received the shattering news that he had Hodgkin Lymphoma.

During his treatment Mr Greedy lost 15kg and was unable to push himself physically, battling the devastating effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

A full time paramedic student at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Mr Greedy said the idea came to him while walking the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea earlier this year.

“I just put two and two together and thought rather than just be doing these amazing trips, combine them with something that has a bit more meaning,” he said.

While pushing himself to the limit on the treks, his focus would be on the people he was helping, Mr Greedy said.

“This is not about me, I not trying to big note myself,” he said.

Mr Greedy will hold fundraisers over the coming months. The link will be active before the end of the week.
