The post even mentioned the specific model of the Mont Blanc. Talukdar later deleted the post. But by then it had gone viral.

mont blanc peak How to Get Rid of a Musty Smell in a Basement

Many homes have a damp basement smell that is oftentimes strong and overwhelming. As soon as the house basement door is opened the musty odor permeates throughout the house. Some homeowners avoid using their basements for storage for fear that the mildew smell or musty odor will imbed itself in the items stored. Basements have a mildewy, moldy or musty odor for one reason water. Water is the enemy of a house for many reasons including mildew, mold, wood rot and mildew smells or musty odors. Many basements have no indications of a leak, which leaves the homeowner to wonder where the damp odor is coming from. Those who live near a beach, shoreline, river or stream tend to struggle with damp smells more than those who live in areas that are dry.

Getting rid of the damp odor in the house basement is a priority for many. In order to make the house basement a part of the living space or to use it as storage for clothing, linens, books or other items that aren used often the problem needs to be addressed. There are quite a few steps homeowners can take to get rid of the mildew odor and freshen up the air.

Start outside the home by inspecting the gutters. Clean the gutters to remove dead leaves, twigs, nests and other debris that maybe causing a clog. If the gutters or clogged, the water runs off the roof,

into the gutters and splashes over the sides. As the soil soaks in the water, a process called hydrostatic pressure pushes the tiny water droplets through the masonry structure into your basement. If there is damage to the flashing, repair the flashing with roofing cement. If there is damage, remove the existing caulk and recaulk the windows with an exterior grade latex caulk. If possible repair the section of damaged roofing or consider having a second roof put on or tear the old roof off and install a new one.

Inside the HouseCheck all plumbing pipes running through the house basement for condensation or leaks. If the pipes are sweating wrap the pipes with insulation to minimize the water.

Sinks and Toilets

Check the pipes under the sink along with the sprayer hose to make sure water is not leaking into the house basement.

Getting Rid of the Damp Basement Smell

Set up a dehumidifier to pull excess moisture out of the air. If the basement is large, consider getting two dehumidifiers. Remember to empty the dehumidifier daily if it doesn have a discharge hose.

Fill plastic containers or old metal cans with charcoal briquettes and set them around the basement. Charcoal absorbs musty odors and helps to reduce dampness. Every two to four weeks depending on how damp the basement is, take the charcoal outside on a dry, sunny day and lay them out to dry or replace the charcoal with new charcoal.

If you are storing items in the basement, store them in plastic containers rather than cardboard boxes. Throw away old papers, carpets, rugs and newspapers. Paper and textiles absorb the musty odors and worsen a mildew smell in the basement.

Fill old cans, a bucket or shallow pan with cat litter. Cat litter is made to draw in dampness and deodorize. Dump the old cat litter and fill the containers with new cat litter every two to four weeks.

Wash linens, clothing and other textiles that you have stored in the basement. The fabric fibers retains a damp,
montblanc ballpoint refill How to Get Rid of a Musty Smell in a Basement
musty odor and may make you basement smell.

Fill cans or leave open boxes of baking soda around the basement to absorb the mildew smell. You can also sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the floors and let it sit for a few days. Sweep or vacuum the baking soda and dispose of it.

Leave dampness removal products around the basement such as Damp Ridto help reduce the dampness in the basement and the smell.

Mix equal amounts of chlorine bleach and water in a spray bottle. Spray masonry walls and floors and scrub them with a scrub brush.

Writing on a pristine white paper with a fountain ink pen is something the generation can easily relate to. The joy of cursive writing doubles when the pen does not leak and the ink does not spill on the page. To make the keyboard generation aware of the existence of writing ink and fountain pens, Malad based professor Yashwant Pitkar held an exhibition called The Traveling Inkpot in Thane.

Professor Pitkar is 65 but his fascination for ink, pen and related accessories is childlike. “The way passion is the essence of life, ink is the soul of a fountain pen,” he quips. Introduced to the world of pen and inks in childhood, he wants the current generation to know the fun of writing with a fountain pen. “The keyboard is so impersonal but handwriting lets you know the person behind the writing,” says Pitkar, who teaches design at the academy of architecture in Prabhadevi.

Through his exhibition, hosted at Townhall in Tembhinaka, Thane west on February 23 and 24, he presented more than 90 types of inks, books, pen stands and ink bottles. While there are only three to four types of inks available in India, Pitkar says many varieties are available abroad. “There is invisible ink, saffron coloured ink, scented ink, my favourite being turquoise colour.” The scented ink, which has the fragrance of roses, is known as the ink of love and is made by Mont Blanc. Luxury brand Louis Vuitton makes brown coloured ink, he adds.

“Writing done using invisible ink is visible only under ultra violet rays. This ink is made by Noodlers,” he shares. His collection of ink bottles includes those priced at Rs 20 to Rs 2,000. His favourite is the filler fountain pen of Pelican company.

After Thane, he plans to host the exhibition in Nashik next month followed by Pune, Bangalore. Pitkar hopes to cover 10 places in India this year. It is a no profit exhibition and nothing is on sale but is meant to purely create awareness about inks and pens.

Is Avocado A Fruit Or Vegetable?

Curated By Susanne 1 Comment

I always been fascinated by avocado. It is such a delicious, creamy and rich treat that pretty versatile. You can enjoy it savory as well as sweet dishes. It rather healthy but also incredibly rich and fatty. One of the questions that often comes up is this: Is avocado a fruit or a vegetable?

Since it grows on a tree (the avocado tree) and is part of the reproductive organ of the plan that also carries the seed, it is technically / biologically a fruit. We do tend to think of it more as a vegetable though because of the way we use it in the kitchen.

Most of the time we use it in savory dishes and salad. And since avocado aren naturally sweet, we don think of them as fruit. We add it to salads, make cold soups from it or use it as a sandwich spread. Of course then there the ever popular guacamole, a simple avocado dip. Here my favorite recipe.

1/8 teaspoon salt

Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh and put it in a bowl. Add the lemon juice and use a fork to mash the avocado into a smooth paste. Stir in the salsa and salt. Chill until ready to serve.

In some cultures, the avocado is treated more like a fruit and is used in sweet dessert type dishes. Mostly it is mixed with milk and sugar to make a rich and sweet shake.

The nutritional makeup of the avocado also makes it unique. It is by far the fattiest fruit I am aware of. A medium Avocado contains 276 calories and 27.6 grams of fat. Thankfully those fats are the healthy kind but you should still limit yourself to no more than 1 avocado every other day.

Ready to include more avocado in you meals. One easy way to do this is to buy them when they are on sale and then freeze them. They turn out quite well provided you know how to freeze avocado. You can then use your frozen avocados in dips, sandwich spread, soups etc. It time to use this unique fruit in your kitchen on a regular basis.

mont blanc france HC doesn’t find everything fine with Worli mall

MUMBAI: The upcoming swanky Atria mall at Worli, which boasts of housing the country’s first Rolls Royce showroom and other international brands like Mont Blanc, Sony World and Guess, has come under the Bombay High Court scanner.

The HC on Wednesday admitted a petition filed by social activist Medha Patkar challenging the legality of the mall, which has allegedly been constructed on land reserved for housing dishoused persons and a municipal school.

“Prima facie there seems to be some irregularity in the development of the mall,” Justice RM Lodha and Justice AV Mohta said. The construction of the 1.80 lakh square feet mall on Annie Beasant Road is almost complete. The court, however, refused to grant a stay on the inauguration of the mall.

The Judges directed the BMC to deposit Rs45 crore collected from the developers of the mall with the court registrar within a week. The developer, who was allowed to construct the mall, was asked to redevelop the existing school, build and hand over tenements free of cost to the BMC and pay an additional Rs80 crore, of which Rs45 crore has been paid.

“We want to ensure that the Rs45 crore collected by the BMC is used for buying tenements for project affected persons and not paying salaries of BMC staff,” Justice RM Lodha and Justice AV Mohta said. The court also directed the BMC to file a reply stating the time frame within which it will procure the 1,845 tenements for housing dishoused persons.

The petitioner’s advocate YP Singh stated that the mall has come up in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and has been allowed a floor space index (FSI) of 2 against the norm of 1.33.

He alleged that area of the school, which has been redeveloped, has been reduced and that the structure has been pushed near a drain. He added that the mall has not provided adequate parking facility.

Senior Counsel Aspi Chinoy representing the developer denied the petitioner’s allegations stating that all requisite permissions were in place for the mall. The matter will now be heard in April.

The two RCMP officers who forced their way into Christian Duckchief Siksika home, violently arrested him for criminal charges, which were subsequently dropped by the Crown, and then dragged him off stark naked to the Gleichen RCMP detachment, where he was paraded through the station, still naked, must have missed the training sessions where they would undoubtedly have been coached on building trust and respect with Indigenous people. There may be some as yet unproven justification (doubtful) for the force used in the arrest, but the basic affront to decency by not allowing Mr. Duckchief to protect his modesty cannot be justified. mont blanc writing How to Test DC Voltage Using a Multimeter

mont blanc pencil case How to Test DC Voltage Using a Multimeter

A multimeter is very useful in measuring and testing DC voltage. The multimeter can be a standard multimeter, a digital multimeter (DMM), or a auto ranging digital multimeter. The source of the DC voltage can be from batteries, circuits, transformers, or any other electronic device that operates on DC voltage. Troubleshooting of DC electronics is made easier by using a digital multimeter to test in circuit DC voltage and compare the results to an electrical schematic. Faulty components can be identified within the circuit in order to make repairs. This article makes working on DC electronics or batteries simple by describing how to test DC voltage using a multimeter.

Things You Will NeedMultimeter with probes

Step 1Start by setting up the multimeter to test DC voltage. Insert the + red probe into the red voltage test (V) port and the black probe into the COM port. Make sure both probes are firmly pushed into the ports so their is no chance of damaging the multimeter.

Step 2

Set the multimeter test dial to the DC voltage setting. The correct setting is shown in the photo. The setting is typically a V with a straight line over the V. Once the multimeter dial is set the meter will be on.

Step 3Determine what DC voltage will be tested. The multimeter can test a battery voltage, circuit voltage,
mont blanc writing How to Test DC Voltage Using a Multimeter
a AC to DC transformer output, or any other DC voltage. The back of most multimeters show the limits for DC current (amps). To test voltage a supply of voltage must be present. Measure an in circuit DC voltage by holding the red probe on the positive side of the circuit and holding the black probe to the negative side. To determine the charge to know where to place the probes refer to the circuit diagram or look for +/ labeling.

For a battery test touch the red probe lead to the + terminal of the battery while you touch the black probe lead to the terminal of the battery.

Step 5

Read the DC voltage amount on the screen of the multimeter. If no voltage is registering check to make sure the power is being applied to the circuit. If the voltage is a small amount and the multimeter is not auto ranging, turn the dial of the multimeter to a lower DC voltage setting such as mV. Try to test the circuit again using the multimeter.

If the test is for common household batteries, the results should indicate 1.5 Volts for AAA, AA, C, or D batteries if they are good. The multimeter should read 9 volts for a 9 volt battery to be considered acceptable.

mont blanc ascent packages Islamic extremism on rise in Kuwait

2002 12 03 04:00:00 PDT Kuwait City The glass and steel shopping mall glitters at night. Inside, luxury boutiques offer gold and jewels, Mont Blanc pens and Lacoste sportswear. At the designer coffee shop on the ground floor, patrons sip espressos and lattes around a baby grand piano that revolves beneath laser lights.

It’s a strangely Vegas like venue for a meeting with a leading member of the country’s burgeoning Islamist movement.

But that’s Kuwait, where the baubles and luxuries of the West abound thanks to the oil bonanza, yet the most potent political force calls for a return to fundamental Muslim values and tribal heritage. soldiers on a highway last month for allegedly speeding, drew his pistol without warning and shot both. Marines on training exercises, killing one before other Marines killed them.

After the highway incident, the Kuwaiti government put out word that the officer who was arrested in Saudi Arabia was mentally unbalanced. officials, meanwhile, assured journalists that this nation remained firmly in the pro American camp.

But Kuwaitis and longtime expatriates here say they have seen a steady and disturbing rise in Islamic extremism.

“I have been here 22 years, and in that time I have seen the country becoming more and more fundamentalist,” said a European businessman, who asked that his name not be used.

The government here restricts its own citizens’ access to one fourth of the country. troops already here. campaign against terrorism is a thinly disguised religious war against Muslims.

“Every day, we watch on TV the scenes of Israel killing people in Palestine, ” said Dr. Ismail Shatti, the Islamist who met with a journalist at the Galleria 2000 mall. “Every day. What do you expect to happen in the Arab person’s mind? You should expect huge anger, and sometimes it does not stay only as anger. It develops into action.”

Shatti runs a consulting business and wears a close trimmed goatee rather than the long, wild growth favored by the al Qaeda crowd. presence in Kuwait as a protector from the Hussein regime. If there were an invasion of Iraq, he would back the United States as a way of repaying the Americans for their role as Kuwait’s savior even though he would be opposed to the invasion himself, he said. guests.

“Any society consists of some fragile people, and pressure will guide them to lunacy and fanatic actions,” he said. victim in Kuwait: the Marine killed Oct. 8 by two men linked by investigators to al Qaeda. The attackers’ funeral drew a large crowd of supporters and a mullah later arrested who lionized them as martyrs. force in the country is able to take care of itself, it is an awkward reality that as troops are built up in the region for a possible invasion, they must be wary of the very people they came to help. But the liberals admit that they lack the financial support,

mass appeal and organization of the Islamists,

though the Sept. 11 attacks spurred them to press for democratic reforms and to oppose religious intolerance.

The limited democracy that the United States helped foster after the ouster of Iraqi troops in the 1991 Persian Gulf War gave Islamists their foothold on power here, said Shamlan Essa, chairman of the political science department at Kuwait University.

“This is the problem with democracy it allows Islamic fundamentalists to pop up like mushrooms,” he said.

In the Kuwaiti parliament, between 15 and 20 of the 50 members are Islamists, while about 10 are liberals. The balance is held by “tribal” independents. In reality, however, the conservative tribal representatives tend to side with the Islamic bloc.

As a result, Islamic issues dominate public debate. Religious groups recently pushed through a law mandating segregation of the sexes on Kuwait University’s modern, sprawling campus, and there have been calls for more hours of religious training each week in public schools.

Both Kuwaiti officials and Western experts consider the number of hard core al Qaeda operatives in the country to be small; they put the number in the dozens rather than the hundreds. And the estimated 70 to 120 Kuwaitis who went to Afghanistan to fight with al Qaeda are reportedly under close scrutiny by intelligence agencies.

Shatti, a leader of the Islamic Constitutional Movement, said Islamists like him had had almost no political competition since the death of the Arab nationalist movement in the 1960s and 1970s and the eradication of communism and socialism after the Cold War. Now, the only alternative to Islamists is “liberal democracy the West,” he said. “And people do not like how the West has been treating us.”

Essa, the university chairman, blames the royal family, which runs the government, for giving the Islamist movement too much scope. Part of the reason, he suggests, is that the royals felt guilty for not having prevented the invasion by Iraq in August 1990 and were afraid to try to challenge the Islamists openly.

“The whole quandary in the gulf is that the governments and the Islamic fundamentalists both compete for the popular masses, and their competition inevitably revolves around Islam,” he said.
